Portfolio Day 2011!

A little while ago, I went to Portfolio Day: Philadelphia. It was amazing. I had a great time talking to reps and getting feed back on my portfolio. I was given a lot of positive feed back on my printing series and what I’m doing with my abstractions. They liked my approach and process. But I was told that my drawing from observation was lacking a bit. I did bring some pieces, but I was told I really need to work on my compositions and subject matter. Also, I could add more mix media into my printing. Over all, I really like the event and loved talking to all the colleges. It really made me reconsider what I put in my portfolio.

Bottletar Rationale

So before i begin i hope this is the right place. i’m pretty sure it is but whatever.

SO i really liked this back to school project: make a avatar out of a 1 liter bottle. Easy right? sorta. So what i did was i just kinda created as i went. I covered in tape, painted then covered again, then added more tape and more paint. IT was super fun to not have to worry about promts or papers while making. As a result i made some sort of rabbit-animal-thinger.

His name is Rupert. I chose that name because the character Stewie from Family Guy’s  stuff animal/ invisible friend is name Rupert. And while my invisible  friend did not have the name Rupert, I did have quite a few imaginary friends, and they would often find their way into my art so way or another. It kinda of like I finally accounted for this recurring theme in my art. Cool right? total totally
